Richard S. Dworanczyk
Richard S. Dworanczyk was born January 16, 1942 to Stanley and Faye Dworanczyk of Brooklyn, New York.
His education began within his former parish of Our Lady of Czestochowa R.C. Church followed by his graduation from Brooklyn Academy High School. He served in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps. Technical Escort Unit, Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland until he was honorably discharged in 1963.
Graduating State University at Farmingdale, New York in 1966 with an AAS in Agriculture, he began to focus toward a career in education. Mr. Dworanczyk graduated St. Francis College, Brooklyn, New York with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy, and in 1971, Hofstra University with a Masters Degree in Counselor Education.
In 1968 he was married to his lovely and gracious wife, a graduate of St. John's University, the former Geraldine Kurmel of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Now residing in Setauket, New York and active parishioners of S. James R.C. Church, both have since been blessed with two children, Mellisa and Andrew.
A Guidance Counselor until 1973, he became involved in insurance through his father-in-law, Edward A. Kurmel. Today, he is President of Edward A. Kurmel Brokerage Ltd., having its principal place of business in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and branch office in Port Jefferson, Long Island. He has pursued the insurance industry primarily through the General Accident Insurance Company where he is presently a member of its Producer Council.
A successful businessman, President of Oak Hill Cemetery Inc., Stony Brook, New York, a member of various organizations, including past Recording Secretary and President of the Pulaski Association of Business and Professional Men, Inc.. he has for many years personally assisted many individuals within the community in times of need and has interacted for the preservation and promotion of the Polish American culture and heritage.
